Trunk or Treat

Saturday night was trunk or treat at our ward. Ian's costume was inspired by his love of bundas (and these really cute cowboy boots that michelle let me borrow - but of course were too tight on Ian's feet so he refused to wear them).

He was so excited to come home and show me his pumpkin bucket full of candy. It is so much fun watching him enjoy the holidays - I CANNOT wait for Christmas.

Maris Farm

Saturday we got out of the house for a while by visiting Maris Farm, which turns out is a little bit like an October amusement park rather than just a place to pick pumpkins and go on a hay ride. Ian started out on Peaches, which was lined up with lots of other cows and pulled around by a big tractor.
He found a big bunda that he could climb on all by himself.
Next we walked through the barn and he surprised me by wanting to pet all the animals, including goats, sheep, a bunny, a kitty - and pigs that thankfully were a little too far away to touch.
Then the pony ride. Pure joy and he wasn't ready to get off.

A family picture - after which I was sent to the car to lie down.

Then the hay ride.

Some relaxing, and eating churros without me.

Curt's favorite - finding rubber ducks in a huge barn full of corn kernels (he seriously can't stop talking about how cool it was).

Another jump house and then time to save mommy from the car. It was nice to finally get out and enjoy some of the beautiful fall weather.

This is what happens when my mom comes to town

Ghost pumpkin

Picking pumpkins - ian chose the ghost pumpkin right away:

They had a jump house -

Today we carved them - ian really didn't like the feel of the insides, but he has been eating the dried seeds all afternoon.

There are way more pictures of Ian now that my mom is here. Here he is trying to take over my place on the couch.

Playing hide and go seek - in the same closet in the same spot every time.

Sunday night fun

We were all going a little crazy being in the house all day. Curt and Ian amused themselves doing this:

And this (grandma included):

inside the fort...

Ian's funny story of the day: my mom took him to the park and while he was there playing with some neighborhood kids he pulls his pants down and pees off the bridge. Half of me is like - yeah at least he didn't pee his pants and the other half of me is horrified that he thinks it is ok to pee on the playground.

He also calls the baby "bean" and sings to him while caressing my tummy.

I love/hate being spoiled

Saturday Michelle and Marisa and Janna threw me a baby shower. It felt incredibly indulgent since i haven't really left the house in two weeks, and so fun to hang out with friends and family. Marisa and Michelle did most of the planning and baking (all the way from Portland and Olympia - love those girls)

and Janna hosted the party at her house.

Here are a bunch of us before we went home.

My cousin Cherie came down from Monroe with Abby - who played with all the wrapping paper and was totally in love with Curt.

Marisa and I showing off our baby bellies. She is due a little bit after me.

I have to admit that my favorite part was having michelle and marisa come up and stay overnight - there is nothing like getting together with old friends. Thank you everyone for the party and all the fun gifts - it was perfect.

Moms are the best

So curt's mom has pretty much been taking care of two households since I was put on bedrest, including meals, laundry and lots of ian-sitting. She has been so fabulous and we are so thankful that they are so close.
And Wednesday night my mom flew in from NY to stay until the first couple weeks of November (a major sacrifice by my father) and lots of fun for me and ian. Benefits so far:
Adult conversation all day long (she also reminded me that i do know how to knit and crochet and i finally started a project)
A haircut f0r ian (we left some curls so i wouldn't cry)

Breakfast for curt
my favorite butternut squash soup for dinner
a playmate for Ian - yesterday they went on a bunda ride to the park and this morning she has been drawing and coloring tractors with him

Currently they are sanding some wood projects that she brought with her.

My favorite season

So it just happens to be the very best time of the year - when you get to go pumpkin picking, decorate for halloween, make butternut squash soup, enjoy perfect crisp days outside and look forward to the upcoming holidays. Unless, of course, you get put on bedrest for the rest of your pregnancy. Does anyone have any EASY knitting or crocheting projects to suggest? Books or movies? And will you all please update your blogs more often to keep me entertained?

My boots

It has been a pretty rainy fall here in WA - so thank goodness Ian will ONLY wear his boots wherever we go. If I try to put on other shoes he says - no, my boots mama - and since his voice is so sweet i really can't say no. Unfortunately, I bought them 2 sizes too big (because it was the only size they had and I was in love with them but thinking I would save them for another year) - so with the number of times he falls while wearing them, I'm pretty sure he ends up wetter than he would be without them.

Also, the blogging has been lacking lately because I have been obsessed with making Ian a "pretty please stay quiet in church book" - you can see the parts that I've finished here.

And - speaking of fall - Cami gave me a recipe for the best/easiest pumpkin cookies (i ate 6 for lunch):
1 small can pumpkin
1 spice cake mix
2 cups chocolate chips
mix together and spoon onto baking sheet. bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes.
