Joe's art

Friday night we went to Joe Penrod's art show opening at the The Black Front Gallery . The art was fantastic and the set up was amazing. Ian was really impressed (or just really happy to run around the gallery with Grant.)

Joe and Michelle's new baby, Evie.
One of the best parts of the evening was seeing our good friend Cindy, who drove down from Seattle with some friends to see the show. Afterwards we all went to the Penrod's to hang out and eat yummy food - but apparently our camera was already retired by that time of the night so you'll have to check out Cindy's blog for more pics.
Here is how I look 30 years old.
And here is how Ian looks shoving my birthday cake in his mouth.

The Ceremony

When we first moved here I signed Ian up for a Little Gym class because we didn't have any friends to hang out with and I thought he could use some kid time. He LOVES it. Yesterday was his "graduation" - meaning the end of his first six months. He got a medal and Curt came along for the ceremony.

The funniest part of the class is ball time, when Ian runs around screaming ball ball ball and stealing them away from all the kids (not necessarily fun for me). Then when it is time to put them away he takes them all over to the big bucket.

Oreos - Ian's motivation for staying in the cart at the grocery store. And it still doesn't work.

Elmo loves you so so much

He actually says most of these words but since we couldn't get him to say them on the video this will have to do

More tonka truck, better hair

Days without a car

Our car has been in the shop this week so Ian and I have been hanging out at home A LOT. The good part is the house is really clean and I get to take naps with Ian, which I love. And Ian loves playing with all his new Christmas toys - especially his tonka truck, which he loads with anything and everything and then pushes it around the house.

Ash - if you can't tell, he is kissing the shark postcard you sent him from the Baltimore Aquarium (in both pictures).

2007

I didn't get a chance to copy my mom's pictures from christmas so I don't have any christmas pictures to post - but here is what Ian has been up to in 2007.
Making some very impressive first art pieces.
Helping Curt study for the WA State Bar :(
Playing with his new toys (the popper and the broom he ALWAYS plays with together - and usually has his favorite cord as well)
His obsession - the vacuum
He is also saying a lot of words lately - some of his regulars are eyes, nose, ears, yes, this, dog,shoes...and he'll try to copy just about anything.

Pre-Christmas

Last night we had Christmas with Curt's family.
Ian got a full snowsuit from Grandma Leonard - including boots.

I kind of had to force him to open presents - he's not nearly interested in what is under the tree as what he can pull off the tree.

This morning we did a little Christmas of our own so we don't have to take everything to NY and then bring it back. Ian got a popper (which he actually opened enthusiastically once he realized what it was) and a little mini broom and carried one in each hand for hours today.

We spent the rest of the day playing and hanging out.

Christmas picture rejects

Ian is impossible to get a good picture of lately because he won't hold still for more than 5 seconds and as soon as he sees the camera he either runs right for it to steal it away - or away from it as fast as he can.

Not even in the running - but still funny...

Favorite pastimes....
pulling lights and ornaments off the tree
helping clean the kitchen floor (including pushing cheerios down the vent)

Trees

See lots more pictures of my family's trip to the pacific northwest on my mom's and my sister's blogs.

Curt cut down our christmas tree and brought it home on saturday. It is really big - and good thing because the bottom three feet of the tree is sans ornaments because of a certain naughty boy.
