All in the first weekend...

Wednesday we left for vacation in NY. Ian and Curt went on one airline and I went on another. It was really nice to be able to read a book while flying again - but I have to admit that I got a little bored towards the end. Curt didn't get thrown up on once so his trip was a success.
The first day we got to relax and play in the lake. Ian went tubing behind the boat and jumped off the tube and the dock into the lake. He will be wearing his life jacket at all times.
Ian and Peyton loved hanging out together. She is so smiley and darling - I had a crush.

Ian had lake hair...I have a feeling we are going to be seeing a lot of that.

Friday was megan's graduation party -

And saturday morning was Ashley's baby shower. She is so cute pregnant.

here are all the cousins

here I am trying to keep track of all the presents...

Saturday we had to say good bye to Ash and Hank - but not until after we celebrated Hanks upcoming birthday.

We spent the rest of the day sailing - Ian fell asleep and we laid him down in the cabin until we got back to the lakehouse.

Sunday he discovered these shrek ears and ended up taking them to bed with him.

Ian's favorite part of our vacation by far has been his daily tractor (he calls it a bunda???) ride/rides with grandpa. Hopefully this week will be a little more relaxing and I can get a tan.

Freaky

Have you ever wondered what your kid would look like with tennis ball cans instead of feet? Me neither until I saw these very scary pictures...

Other funny things ian did this week...

On saturday we went to a ward picnic and ian played in the kiddy pool at the park - he is getting ready for our big trip to NY next week - we can't wait to have fun at the lake!

Another weekend in Astoria

Friday we went to Astoria to visit my grandparents. They were incredibly calm about having a wild child running through their house full of beautiful antiques. Ian, as always, was smitten by "papa" and followed him everywhere he went.

On Saturday we were going to meet the Henrie's at cannon beach but since it was too cold for a beach day they drove to Astoria and we spent the day hanging out there.
Here they are - the darlingest family of four you've ever seen.

Ian loved playing with Jude and Lola.

Here are jude and ian on the trolley ride that goes through town along the waterfront.

Busy

I have been a terrible blogger the last few months anyway, but last week I had a pretty good excuse - Ian ripped all the keys off our laptop. It wasn't that hard to fix - just had to wait until we had time to do it.
So here is what we have been up to:
Another Little Gym graduation. Grandma Leonard and Curt both came to see him get his medal and run around the gym like a crazy boy (at least he wasn't pushing kids off everything he wanted to play on, which is a really big improvement from the past few weeks).

He's also been helping our neighbor, Joan, in her flower garden.

I love this picture because he has my shoes on, his fake dog leash around his neck, a fork in his hand and is climbing on his toy.

The headband

In church on sunday Ian took my headband and started wearing it around during sacrament meeting. I was laughing really hard (but quietly) because not only does he look darling but he loves himself so much in it. He found it again yesterday so I took some pictures.
and p.s. - no, dad, I will not cut his hair.

Double Dash Point

Memorial weekend was beautiful so we decided to take Ian to the beach. Here he is getting ready to go...

Dash Point is about a half hour from our house. I wasn't sure what to expect of the beach but I definitely didn't expect Ian to be fully swimming in the puget sound in May. It turned out to be so much fun that we met my friend Michelle there on Friday and kids played for hours and hours in the sand and sun.
He started out clean and dry like this....
and ended up like this....

Here are Ian and Grant on Friday when we met up with the Penrod's

Time for a post

We have been pretty boring lately - mostly just taking care of the yard and getting stuff for the house.

Ian's new favorite thing is to climb and jump (mostly out of his crib, which is now a big boy bed and in which he now refuses to sleep, but pretty much anything will do).

New favorite words:
mess (after he makes one, not to prevent one)
choo choo
kitty
bonk
off (always in reference to clothes)

He is starting to look so much like a little boy to me, today I went through his baby pictures so I could remember what he was like, so sweet and chunky and immobile.

The Rices the Moshers and the hose

Man, I was totally going to blog this on sunday but I have a sinus infection so I spent the whole day sleeping and now sarah already blogged her pictures and she is way funnier than I am. So if you want the funny version of our meeting up with the rices and the moshers, please see this blog.

My only addition is....elliot is as cute in real life as he is in his pictures. It seems impossible but it is true.

Yesterday ian discovered the hose. This summer is going to be very wet.

the end of ash

We took ash to the airport on saturday morning. So sad. Today is tuesday and still the first thing out of ian's mouth (after he jumped out of his crib) was "Ash?"
On thursday we went up to monroe to see cherie, abby and josh. They have goats in their city parks so the boys had fun feeding the goats. And ashley had fun practicing for little baby parker on baby abby.
We miss you ash.
