The perfect goodbye to summer

We just got home from 4 days in Lincoln City with the Henries and the Penrods.
Of course the kids played in the water even though it was in the 60s.
Then they wanted to be snuggled in towels.

These boys especially had a lot of fun together: Grant, Jude and Ian

Ian had awesome beach hair all weekend.

The Henrie children actually pose for photos.

James and Simon - future BFFs - current NOT BFFs.

Other highlights:
Playing Beatles Rock Band well into the night (every night)
Morning walks on the beach
Ian's hair - did I already mention that?
Hanging out with the Rices for an afternoon
The ocean view.
The ocean smell.
The ocean

Also: james is completely obsessed with the scooter. He's got skills.

Ian and Grant saying goodbye to the beach (and Ian giving me his crazy overtired bad attitude - I can't believe I caught it so perfectly on camera)

Canning

I used to love going down to the basement and picking out a jar of my mom's homemade canned salsa, or grape juice or whatever. It turns out canning food makes me almost as happy as growing it.

Pickles, salsa, beans, zucchini relish, peaches.

Amber pamber

came to town - and all these other girls came to see her. It was kind of a reunion (we missed you di).

and meant sleepover parties for the kids.

The Virginia V

Last Saturday we went to Harbor Days in Olympia and took a ride on the Virginia V. She is a steam boat. And it rained on us.

There was lots of pirate stuff for the kids.

Sail boat pictures for my dad.

Coming back into the dock with a view of the state capitol.
