Saturday with the McKinneys

We love it when josh and melis come to visit. sometimes curt will say a joke and when I don't laugh he tells me that josh would think it was funny. seems like they have been friends forever. and melisa and amelia are darling.
We took the kids to the park and let them run around like maniacs. We actually brought the scooter for ian and the tricycle for amelia but since he doesn't like to share.....

In case you are wondering if ian likes to go to the park...

The last time he dove into the tunnel slide he missed the HUGE hole and did a face plant into the step. He left the park with a fat, bruised lip an some bloody teeth.
Back at home Amelia showed ian her trick of putting a blanket over her head and running around the room bumping into everything.
She's cute.
And best of all - the mckinney's got to meet james.
Thanks for hanging out with us Josh, Melisa and Amelia - we wish you lived closer and we could see you all the time.

Ian is obsessed with ghosts

I'm out-numbered

For my family...

Because who else would be interested in watching a boring, and much too long video of a two month old playing with a butterfly? Thanks for the great toy Parker and Ash.

This is why James is so fabulous, he falls asleep wherever he is when he is tired (with or without the binky).

You might think, because of the blog, that life is all about James right now. Boy would you be wrong. This guy rules the house. (Here he is telling Aunt Nicki what to do, too).
For example, today I went to check on him during his "nap", which apparently consisted of pushing his train table to the side, pulling his top mattress completely off his bed, and making a nice little crayon drawing on his sheets and the wall by his bed. And which was infinitely better (or at least safer) than saturday's nap when he climbed up to the fourth level of drawers on his dresser and almost pulled the whole thing over on himself. I try to safe-proof his room, but I honestly didn't realize that I shouldn't have any furniture in there at all (or toys or walls for that matter).

This is Ian's friend Josie. Josie is the best playmate because she doesn't take any crap from ian. and she is bigger, even though she is younger.

Happy Valentine's Day

Ian's new phrase is "see you later," which he especially loved screaming at me 8 times as his dad took him out of church on sunday.

Ash - I finally had a chance to use the cake stencils - they are so cool. Here is our valentine's treat. The individual servings were covered in marshmellow and fresh strawberry sauces.

Melodramatic

This is what happens when you tell ian no more curious george books before bed. it is most often accompanied by an incredibly loud, and fake cry. how charming.

on another note: james is getting some thighs - but....

nothing like the park...yet.

Maybe he will even get a chin, cheeks and no wrists, like this guy...

Snow

We spent last weekend in the mountains with the Penrods. It snowed almost the whole time we were there and it was so beautiful. It made me kind of miss east coast snowy winters and playing in the snow. In fact, as soon as breakfast was over, I got on my snow gear and headed outside with the kids to go sledding (there wasn't much of a hill, but I wanted to go anyway and curt said I was my mother - what does that mean mother?).

Ian in his hodge podge snow outfit (we don't get much snow here).

Ian and granty (as Ian calls him)

The sad little hill.... sorry it is so dark.

Jamesy kind of smiling and talking - they never perform for the camera.

Smiley guy

James is smiley. he likes to lay on the floor and smile at everything (sometimes he cries until i put him down). he almost always smiles when he hears his brother. even if he knows it probably means he is about to be tackled, kissed, or have blankets thrown on his head.

It has been really cold here, so on most days I bundle james up in his snowsuit, put him in the sling and we head to the park with ian either on his scooter or tricycle. I'm surprised at how quickly i've gotten over my fear of getting out of the house with two kids - who would have known that you CAN do all the things you did before, you just have to plan a little more time to get out of the door.
My mom used to do this to us growing up.
James being precious.

Ian being .....precious?
James hangs out in here alot and coos at the fishy hanging in the middle.
